Effective Date: 18 Sept 2026
These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to individual bookings with Absolute Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu / Absolute BJJ Academy (“Absolute BJJ” or the “Academy”), including classes, trial classes, seminars, clinics, workshops, camps, special events, and similar activities.
These terms apply only to the specific activity being booked. They do not create a membership, authorize recurring payments, or automatically enroll the participant in any future program or service.
A booking is confirmed once the registration process has been completed and, where applicable, the required payment has been successfully processed.
Bookings are subject to availability and may be limited by class size, participant age, skill level, program requirements, or other reasonable participation criteria.
The details shown during registration, including the activity, date, time, location, participant, price, and any activity-specific requirements, form part of the booking.
Where payment is required, the applicable fee and taxes will be disclosed before the booking is completed.
Payment must be made using a payment method accepted by the Academy.
A booking requiring payment is not confirmed until payment has been successfully processed.
Unless expressly disclosed at the time of booking, completing a booking does not authorize Absolute BJJ to charge the participant for any future activity or membership.
Unless different cancellation terms are clearly stated for a particular activity, a participant may cancel a paid booking by contacting:
Cancellation requests received at least five (5) business days before the scheduled activity are eligible for a refund, less a 15% administrative fee.
Cancellations received less than five (5) business days before the scheduled activity, and participant no-shows, are generally non-refundable.
If Absolute BJJ agrees to provide a credit, transfer, rescheduling option, or other accommodation outside this policy, it is provided at the Academy's discretion and does not create an ongoing entitlement to the same accommodation.
Nothing in this section limits any cancellation, refund, or other consumer right provided by applicable law. Where applicable law provides greater rights, the law will prevail and no administrative fee will be applied where doing so would be prohibited.
Absolute BJJ may make reasonable changes to an activity where necessary, including changes to the instructor, training area, schedule, or other operational details.
The Academy may cancel, postpone, or reschedule an activity because of circumstances including:
instructor unavailability;
insufficient registration;
severe weather;
unsafe conditions;
facility closure;
emergency circumstances;
government or regulatory requirements; or
other circumstances reasonably beyond the Academy's control.
Where Absolute BJJ cancels an activity and does not provide the booked service or an acceptable rescheduled alternative, participants will receive a refund or other remedy as required by applicable law.
Participants will be notified of material changes using the contact information provided during booking.
Participants are responsible for arriving at the time specified for their activity.
Late arrival may result in the participant being unable to participate where the instructor determines that joining the activity would be unsafe, disruptive, or impractical.
Failure to attend a booked activity does not normally entitle the participant to a refund.
Participants must follow instructor directions, Academy safety requirements, and reasonable standards of behaviour while participating in an activity.
Absolute BJJ may refuse or discontinue participation where a participant:
engages in unsafe behaviour;
deliberately disregards instructor directions;
harasses, threatens, or abuses another person;
intentionally damages Academy property;
disrupts the activity to a degree that prevents its reasonable operation; or
otherwise presents a material safety or behavioural concern.
Any refund entitlement following removal from an activity will be determined in accordance with the circumstances, these terms, and applicable law.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, grappling, martial arts, physical conditioning, and related activities involve physical contact and inherent risks of injury.
Participants must:
follow instructor directions and safety requirements;
use required protective equipment where applicable;
participate within their abilities;
advise an instructor if they are injured or unable to participate safely; and
avoid participating where illness, injury, or another condition makes participation unsafe.
Participants, parents, or guardians should provide the Academy with information reasonably necessary for safe participation, including relevant restrictions, injuries, allergies, or accommodation requirements.
Participation may require completion of Absolute BJJ's separate Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver.
These Booking Terms do not replace that waiver.
Nothing in these Booking Terms excludes or limits liability where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
For participants who are minors, any required consent or acknowledgement must be completed by a parent, legal guardian, or other person legally authorized to provide consent.
Participants must comply with the clothing, uniform, and equipment requirements applicable to the booked activity.
Participants may be prevented from participating where their clothing, equipment, jewellery, or other items create an unreasonable safety risk.
Any specific equipment or uniform requirements will be communicated as part of the booking information or applicable Academy policies.
Bookings for minors must be completed or authorized by a parent, legal guardian, or other person legally authorized to provide the required consent.
The person completing the booking confirms that they have authority to register the minor.
Parents and guardians are responsible for complying with any applicable drop-off, pick-up, supervision, and emergency-contact procedures.
Booking or participating in an activity does not constitute consent for Absolute BJJ to use an identifiable participant's photograph, video, voice, or likeness for advertising or promotional purposes.
Promotional media consent will be requested separately where applicable.
Declining promotional media consent will not prevent an otherwise eligible participant from participating in an activity.
Absolute BJJ may collect and use personal information reasonably necessary to:
process the booking;
collect payment;
communicate information concerning the activity;
manage attendance;
respond to emergencies or safety concerns;
provide customer service; and
administer Academy operations.
Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy law and the Academy's privacy practices.
Information collected for a booking will not, by itself, constitute consent to receive marketing communications where separate consent is required by law.
Participants agree that Absolute BJJ may send administrative and transactional communications relating to the booking, including confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, cancellations, safety information, and other information reasonably necessary to administer the activity.
Participants are responsible for providing accurate contact information.
Absolute BJJ may update these Booking Terms for future bookings.
The terms presented and accepted when a booking is completed will apply to that booking unless a change is:
agreed to by the participant;
reasonably necessary for safety or operation and does not materially reduce the purchased service; or
required by applicable law.
Absolute BJJ will not use this provision to retroactively impose a material new fee, restriction, or obligation contrary to applicable law.
Nothing in these Booking Terms is intended to waive, restrict, or eliminate any consumer right, cancellation right, refund right, remedy, or other protection that cannot lawfully be waived.
Where these Booking Terms conflict with mandatory applicable law, the applicable law will prevail.
These Booking Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the Province of New Brunswick and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
