ABSOLUTE BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU
PHOTO, VIDEO & SOCIAL MEDIA CONSENT
Absolute Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Inc. (“Absolute BJJ”), located at 80 Bishop Drive, Fredericton, New Brunswick, may occasionally take photographs, video recordings, or other visual media during classes, seminars, camps, clinics, competitions, demonstrations, special events, and other Academy activities.
Participation at Absolute BJJ does not require consent to promotional photography, video, or social media use.
1. Consent
If YES - I CONSENT is selected during registration, booking, or membership setup, I authorize Absolute BJJ to intentionally photograph or record me, or the minor participant for whom I am legally authorized to provide consent.
Authorized media may include photographs, video recordings, audio accompanying video, and the participant’s image or likeness.
2. Permitted Uses
Where consent has been provided, Absolute BJJ may use authorized media for purposes including:
Absolute BJJ’s website;
Absolute BJJ-controlled social media accounts;
Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and similar platforms;
digital advertising;
printed advertising and promotional materials;
newsletters and Academy communications;
promotion of classes, programs, seminars, clinics, camps, competitions, and events;
recognition of participant achievements;
instructional or educational content; and
internal instructor or staff training.
Absolute BJJ may reasonably crop, resize, edit, caption, or format authorized media for these purposes, provided the media is not used in a misleading, defamatory, or materially misrepresentative manner.
3. Names and Identifying Information
Media consent does not authorize Absolute BJJ to publish additional sensitive or private information about the participant, such as their home address, contact information, date of birth, medical information, school, or other private circumstances.
Where YES - I CONSENT is selected, I also consent to Absolute BJJ publishing limited identifying information reasonably associated with authorized media, such as the participant's first name, belt rank, competition result, or Academy achievement.
Absolute BJJ will exercise additional care when publishing information about minors and will avoid unnecessarily disclosing information concerning a child’s location, routine, contact information, or other private circumstances.
4. Public Social Media and Internet Use
I understand that photographs or videos published online may:
be viewed by members of the public;
be shared, copied, downloaded, or captured by screenshot;
be indexed by search engines;
remain available through third parties after the original content is removed; and
be processed by social media platforms according to their own terms and privacy practices.
Absolute BJJ cannot control independent copies or redistribution by third parties after authorized media has been lawfully published.
5. No Compensation
I understand that I will not receive payment or other compensation for the authorized use of photographs, video, or other media unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6. Declining Consent
If NO - I DO NOT CONSENT is selected, Absolute BJJ will not intentionally photograph, record, or use identifiable photographs or video of that participant for promotional or public-facing purposes.
Selecting NO will not affect the participant’s ability to:
attend classes;
book a trial;
attend a seminar, clinic, camp, competition, or event;
purchase or maintain a membership; or
otherwise participate in Absolute BJJ activities.
Absolute BJJ will make reasonable efforts to ensure that participants who have declined consent are not intentionally featured in Academy-created promotional photography or video.
Photography or recording independently undertaken by other participants, parents, spectators, competition organizers, media organizations, or members of the public may be outside Absolute BJJ’s control.
7. Withdrawal of Consent
Consent may be withdrawn at any time for future collection, use and discolsure by contacting:

Upon receiving a withdrawal request, Absolute BJJ will update the participant’s media-consent status and discontinue future intentional photography, recording, and promotional use.
Where reasonably practicable, Absolute BJJ will also remove existing identifiable media from websites and social media accounts directly controlled by Absolute BJJ.
Absolute BJJ may not be able to retrieve or remove:
printed materials already distributed;
content already viewed or downloaded;
screenshots or copies created by third parties; or
content independently shared or retained outside Absolute BJJ’s control.
Withdrawal of consent does not make uses that occurred before the withdrawal retroactively unauthorized.
8. Minor Participants
Where the participant is under the age of majority, the consent decision must be made by a parent, legal guardian, or another person legally authorized to provide consent on behalf of the participant.
9. Privacy
Photographs, video recordings, and other media in which an individual is identifiable may constitute personal information.
Absolute BJJ will handle such information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law and its privacy practices.
Consent to promotional photography, video, or social media use is optional and is not a condition of receiving martial arts services from Absolute BJJ.
